About the Author

Based in Amsterdam, Annemiek Nooteboom is a psychologist, communication trainer, and curious worldbuilder who divides her time between supporting medical professionals and writing. She works with doctors, healthcare teams, and leaders in academic hospitals, helping them navigate complex situations, teamwork under pressure, and communication challenges. Her experience writing educational material — including the medical communication book “The all-doctor” — informs her fiction, where systems, power, and human resilience take centre stage.

Annemiek has a soft spot for animals, loves jungle adventures and dancing whenever she gets the chance. Together with her husband and sometimes her grown kids, she loves travelling and exploring different cultures and landscapes. These experiences find their way into her fictional worlds. Her debut YA fantasy project, set on the island-realm of Vernuvia, blends psychological insight with adventure, resilience, and imagination.
